Mrs. Nguyễn Thị Nhơn is 33 years old. She has been a regular participant in the TYM Fund since 2003. Currently, the income of Mrs. Nhơn’s family comes mainly from raising animals and from wages her husband earns as a hired day-laborer. With their monthly income of 3,000,000 VND (180 USD), Nhơn and her family are slowly but steadily improving their life. In the next lending cycle, she hopes to borrow 15,000,000 VND (900 USD) to invest in repairs to her chicken coop, and to buy more chickens and ducks to raise.

Because of their participation in TYM Fund for the past eight years and the good outcome of their livestock rearing business, her family's financial situation is better and continues to improve. Today, the business of raising pigs, chicken, and ducks provides the family with an income of 5,000,000 VND per month. With this income source, in addition to full repayment of their loans, the loan terms require the family to purchase household items to improve their living conditions. This loan cycle she hopes to borrow 10,000,000 VND to expand her livetsock rearing facilities/business.

I chose to help a lady from Vietnam as my first project with Kiva.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Chen is 54 years old. Her family has 5 children, all are grown. Joining TYM fund in 1994, she borrowed money to invest in raising pigs. In 2005, thanks to improved family income, she was able to purchase a machine to grind rice for the local community. Presently, with income from raising pigs at 297 USD, rice grinding and her husband's salary, her family's income is improving every day. For her next loan, she wishes to borrow 475 USD to invest in raising pigs and chickens.
