It’s not having what you want, it’s wanting what you have

Fantastic wildlife photographer,Moose Peterson, is quoting Sheryl Crow from her "Soak up the sun" song in a very interesting post from his blog about Nikon D3 vs Nikon D3X... I found it while searching for D2X information as the choice narrows (!) down to :
  • D90 : cool, cheapest and very convenient but SD & DX. About €850
  • D300 : highest range in DX format, CF but DX. About €1350
  • D700 : best compromise yet need to change lense system from Nikkor DX to Nikkor FX About €2200
  • D3 : Best in all classes yet, close to D3X, double CF but far too expensive and Nikkor FX needed. About €4000 or above €3000 as second hand
  • D2X : second hand, 10K shots on 150K, 5 years old (end 2004)

Check his blog http://www.moosenewsblog.com/ and his web site http://www.moosepeterson.com/home.html

I loved my D70 which was my best companion on my first trip to Japan, loved the D70s despite its trigger problem (fixed for free by Nikon under warranty, 2 weeks before the end of it) and still find useful the D50 (despite horrible SD limited to 2GB). But they lack speed and low light quality and 6MP cannot comply with publishing.
