Dollar/Euro and €/$ conversion rate and its influence
Antoine, my dear friend living in Cambodia, asked me a question that raised a bigger one.
Here it is: "given that I help Kiva with $ and that the € (Euro)/$ rate is falling, it costs me more money to help as my account is labeled in €. In order to help more efficiently I have to buy $ with the best price. How can I do?"
Look at the chart from Yahoo Finance (FR) [Yahoo Finance US] and check these elements :
Any finance guru can help him maximize his money in order to give more efficiently?

Pavarotti singing Puccini in the blue & cloudy winter sky
Tears in my eyes at work as I needed to isolate myself from the relentless noisy collegues in our open space offices...
Puccini's wonderful melodies are sung by Luciano Pavarotti. It reminds me of my grandfather's stories told by my mom : he used to sing in the car when he was driving the family to the south of France. The 'sound of music' was the one of happiness.
that feeling I knew also with PN when stopped on the road to Bordeaux to buy the Puccini's CDs we were listening to in the rental car. Another good idea she had...
I look through the window and the mirror plated building sends the reflection of the speeding clouds in the beautiful blue sky. Boy do I want to be back to my woods and lose myself in nature near my lake. I must be a real 'nature boy' to feel the nature's call like this. Couple years ago I would walk for hours with my Olympus camera (same brand as my dear friend Dee Ann's) and stop anytime a picture would be imagined by my mind. The most wonderful time being in winter when I arrived late for work. Surrounded by the white comfy snow turning the wwods in a silentful and mysterious area. The special lite of the dark sky, the day not fully born yet gave that special quality light enhanced by the snow. The winter skies are some of the purest.
I have to get back to work. Instead of smoking, I dream...

My cooking secrets revealed
Another himitsu (Secret) was revealed in Time! Yes, one pinch of salt can improve the taste of your coffee... Some even put natural sea salt in big grains directly into the coffee to brew. That reminds me of Wendy and Lisa's 'waiting for you is like waiting for coffee to brew, as I just can't wake up without coffe or thinking of you'

various help for Chroeb En Group in Cambodia (Help_091821_81223)
Mrs. Chroeb En is the president of a village bank of twelve people who all live in Toeuk Chenh Village in Kampong Chhnang Province. All the members will use the loan for different purposes. Mrs. Chroeb En is a basket maker and seller who can make a small income to support her family. Her husband, Mr. Chuon Pov, is a traditional musician who plays the music during wedding ceremonies, funerals, and parties. Although Mrs. Chroeb En and her husband try to work hard, they still live in poor conditions and in an old house. In order to improve their standard of living, Mrs. Chroeb En decided to ask for a loan to build a new house for her family. Mrs. Chroeb En is 32 years old and the mother of five children, four of whom are attending the local school while the youngest one is just two years old. Mrs. Thuo Suom does not come to take a loan but her husband is, so he is presented in the picture instead of his wife.
This is a village bank loan consisting of mainly end-of-term loans. Seven members have end-of-term loans and the rest have monthly payment loans. They are not required to pay any principal on the loan until the very end of the loan term. End-of-term (EoT) loans are AMK’s main product because it is the most beneficial to Cambodia’s poor. It allows them to repay portions of the principal whenever they are financially able to. Most clients start to make payments many months before the end of the loan term. Almost all of AMK’s clients make their payments on time. AMK has a delinquency rate of only 0.09% and AMK has a default rate of 0% on Kiva.

Mrs. Sahun Chhor is the village bank president, selected by the members. She and her husband, Mr. Chhor Sahun, are construction workers. Since their work place is far from home, they spend a lot of money on transportation. In order to reduce these expenses, Mrs. Sahun Chhor decided to ask for a loan to buy a bike to go to work. She will use the rest of the loan to buy chickens for breeding. Mrs. Sahun Chhor is 28 years old and the mother of two children, one of whom attends the local school while the younger one, at age five, is too young to work or study.

This is a small group of three members. Mrs. Phary is selected to be the group leader. Mrs. Sao Phary, 51, is a hairdresser and provides laundry services. Her business is located in Battambang Province. She is widowed with three children, one of whom is married and two who are single. Her son, Mr. Sao Sony, 19, works a lathe and can earn money to support the family's expenses. To increase her son business, Phary needs a loan for her son to purchase a lathe for his own business. Other two members are: Mrs. Kim Chan Thou, 48, on staff at a local NGO, who needs a loan to run a new business of a decorating business, and Mrs. Chim Bora, who is selling noodle soups. She needs a loan to expand her business by purchasing ingredients.

Tit Bunnat, 48, is a food seller and lives in Kandal Province. He runs a little restaurant where he sells rice and more types of food like Traditional Khmer Food, which he sells to students and passers-by. He is married to Kheav Chantha who is 48 years old and works with him in his business. She is a good mother to their three children; two of them are single and one is married.
To help a little more with the family's needs, all of her children are employed and working for companies; they currently earn a salary of US$ 190 per month. The couple is facing a difficulty with their living conditions: their old house is broken down and too small for them. Bunnat and his wife would like to request a loan to buy house equipment to repair their old house. (In the photograph, the couple appears in front of their food shop.)

Put Han is 28 years old and sells Khmer silk clothes by transporting them to customers' homes. She buys them from the manufacturer and then resells them for a profit. She has been in this business since 2003, and currently earns around $10 per day. Her husband, Mr. Pheng Kreal, is 41 years old and works cooking for wedding parties. The couple has two children, both of whom are teenagers. They both work hard with the business to support the family's living expenses. So far, her business is doing well and she needs to expand it to make more profits. Therefore, Put Han would like to request a loan to purchase more silk clothes for resale. Mrs. Srey Um is a farmer in Trapaing Prey village in Takeo province. She owns a piece of land where she cultivates rice. Her husband, Mr. Doem Thy, is a motorbike taxi driver. Even though they try to work hard, they do not earn enough income for the family to improve their living conditions. In addition, Mrs. Srey Um family members live in an old house which needs to be repaired.
Mrs. Srey Um is asking for a loan to buy timers to fix the house. She is 31 years old and the mother of six children, two of whom are employed in a garment factory, three are enrolled in the local school, and the remaining one is too young to work or study. Her husband is also shown in the photo.

Mrs. Nguyễn Thị Nhơn is 33 years old. She has been a regular participant in the TYM Fund since 2003. Currently, the income of Mrs. Nhơn’s family comes mainly from raising animals and from wages her husband earns as a hired day-laborer. With their monthly income of 3,000,000 VND (180 USD), Nhơn and her family are slowly but steadily improving their life. In the next lending cycle, she hopes to borrow 15,000,000 VND (900 USD) to invest in repairs to her chicken coop, and to buy more chickens and ducks to raise.

With this income source, in addition to full repayment of their loans, the loan terms require the family to purchase household items to improve their living conditions. This loan cycle she hopes to borrow 10,000,000 VND to expand her livetsock rearing facilities/business.
